När
klimatet blir varmare…
Last edit 20150531

I am for the first time convinced it will be a warming and we should be
prepared. My immediate recommendation is to adjust altitude 50 m downwards for
seed orchard deployment and long term breeding, while thinking long-term, thus
new rules before 2020. As the temperature did not raise 2000-2013 I think the
50m rule can be enforced for that time.

Lindgren: Modelling the performance over a range of sites using genetic
flexibility (plasticity). A method and program for analysing
and evaluating the quantitative consequences of zone size and width of genetic
components for a plantation material by aid of the Cauchy function and a
parabolic approximation was made and application for Scots pine in Sweden was
presented. An analyses of "Planters guide" was presented using
genetic flexibility.

Lindgren, Dag 1994. When
do temperature events take place in Sweden and Finland? Sveriges
lantbruksuniversitet. Institutionen för skoglig genetik och växtfysiologi.
Arbetsrapport 51. ISSN 0280-7998. The
report was printed in August 1994. The report is available on file and I offer it at the same directory as
TEMPPRED. It comprises tempdata evaluations for
individual major meteorological stations in Sweden and Finland. The report was
initially in WordPerfect, but I have transcribed it to Word. IT could have treated the
electronic copy of the report better. The correlation between the TEMPSUM of
the report (built only on month averages for all Swedish and Finnish stations)
has a correlation of r=0.9994 of Perttuu tempsum, thus it is possible to get the same information much
cheaper.
Some sentences from the
report: “An inspection of Table 1 suggests that at most stations the
temperature maximum appears close to July 15, thus around 25 days after
astronomic midsummer. Actually, the stations are remarkably similar in that respect.
Localities close to or in big waters (lighthouses) are 5-12 days later. It
seems as south Sweden was a few days later. That eg
TS-values have been calculated using identical and compatible methods in Sweden
and Finland means that a bridge is built which makes joint analyses and mapping
possible. Differences between Sweden and Finland cannot be explained by
technical differences in calculation methods.
The report give the date
of maximum temperature for each station, thus a measure of continentality.
As the columns are gone and the table heads somewhat confusing it is at first a
little complicated to find the max dates (e.g. 722), but they are certainly
retrievable. This continentally measure is unlikely to change after 1991 and
can thus be used immediately
Concluding comments:
as usual with IT it is much trouble. Links do not
survive long, e.g. Skogforsk links are frequently
changed in less than a decade. I myself experienced big trouble as Word did not
work
