Seed orchards

This webpage is mainly a collection of links related to seed orchards. One of the target groups of these pages was a Swedish speaking auditorium and many links are to Swedish documents, but many links are also to English pages. I write partly in English (Swenglish). Sorry for that IT trouble and others frequent change of URL cause problems. I care to update seed orchard pages more than other pages.

Swedish seed orchard research seems in top of the world!

There was a seed orchard conference in Turkey in May 2012 with around 60 participants from 20 countries. Four were Swedes, and they presented 6 of 30 lectures. Two swedes were session chairperson of 8!

Each fifth year IUFRO (the equivalent to UN for forest research) shares awards for the best doctoral works in the world since previous congress. August 2010 this award was given to Finnvid Prescher for his seed orchard doctoral work at SLU about seed orchards and 2005 Kyu-Suk Kang got the award for doctoral work on seed orchards at SLU. In August 2010 IUFRO had its world-congress at Seoul. There were three oral presentations about seed orchards, all by Swedish participants. There were also seven posters, but no Swede presented a poster, but Swedes were more advanced and not many forest geneticists from Sweden participated.

__Det finns ett IUFRO WP fröplantager, dvs en internationell arbetsgrupp som arbetar med fröplantagefrågor som en uppföljning till en fröplantagekonferens i Umeå 2007. Denna nya organisation möttes i Korea i början av augusti 2009 och i Turkiet maj 2012, nästa möte planeras till 2017 i Sverige.

_Särplockning - eftersom intresset för särplockning i svenska plantager och halvsyskonfamiljeblock ökat har jag gjort en sida om detta.

Tyvärr fick jag datatrassel med länkarna vid systembyte, länkarna uppträder inte så snyggt som de borde och ibland på fel ställe. Dessutom har många aktörer (t ex Skogstyrelse, Skogforsk, SLU) för vana att byta länkar omotiverat ofta. Figurer fastnar inte.  Dessutom har min web bytt server och den nya servern har nya egenskaper.
